On the most important day of the year for the Jewish religion, when we stop everything to reflect and ask for forgiveness from God, on this day we are told to put everything in proportion, even religion itself, because some things are more important. I do not say we should all be Jews, or fast on Yom Kippur, but maybe just stop for a moment, think about the rules by which we live, our religion, and make sure we do not put them above values like humanity and love... Because it doesn't really matter what your religion is: Judaism, Christianity, money, power, alcohol ... first be humane, have ethics... as Chazal said “Proper ethical behavior precedes the Torah”
אין יום הכיפורים מכפר על עבירות שבין אדם לחברו.
ביום הכי חשוב בשנה לדת היהודית, כשאנחנו עוצרים הכל בשביל להרהר במעשינו ולבקש מחילה מאלוהים, ביום הזה אומרים לנו לשים הכל בפרופורציה, אפילו את הדת עצמה. אני לא אומרת שכולנו צריכים לצום ביום כיפור, אבל אולי רק לעצור לרגע, לחשוב על הכללים על פיהם אנחנו חיים, הדת שלנו, ולוודא שאנחנו לא שמים אותה מעל ערכים כמו אנושיות ואהבה. כי זה לא באמת משנה מה התורה שלך: דת, כסף, שליטה, אלכוהול... קודם כל תהיה בנאדם, שתהיה לך דרך ארץ... "דרך ארץ קדמה לתורה".
