San Juan Comalapa, Guatemala
Architecture is not about what we want to build, but of what a place, a community, is in need .

Mateo arrived in San Juan Comalapa while volunteering with the peace corps. Being aware of the local community's needs, he learned of the necessity of a gathering place, a park.So he went back to the states and founded LWH.
In 2005 he came back to start construction of the first project of LWH, Park Chimiya. Following it was a water distribution system and Chixot School, a primary and vocational school.

Chixot School is built using eco friendly methods and recycled materials.

Using retaining walls to create buildings and open spaces in the slope.
